1. Actively constrain surrounding rock
Metal mesh or steel-plastic composite mesh is fixed to the surface of the tunnel by anchor rods to connect the loose rock mass into a whole and reduce the risk of local collapse. 

2. Load transfer and dispersion
The mesh evenly transfers the load to the anchor rod through the welded point or woven structure, forming a synergistic force system. 

3. Adapt to complex geological conditions
In high humidity and corrosive environments, galvanized metal mesh or steel-plastic composite mesh can extend the service life and withstand greater pull-out force.

(1) Metal support mesh
Diamond metal mesh: woven from low-carbon steel wire, with diamond-shaped mesh, strong tear resistance, commonly used in coal mine false roof and side protection. Steel bar welded mesh: It is formed by spot welding of cold-rolled or hot-rolled steel bars. The mesh surface is flat and has high rigidity. It is suitable for tunnel roof support. 

(2) Composite material mesh
Steel-plastic composite mesh: It has carbon steel wire inside and a modified plastic layer outside, which combines the strength of steel and the corrosion resistance of plastic. 

Thick coal seam stratified mining: Steel-plastic composite mesh is used as a false roof to prevent gangue from flowing out of the goaf and is also used for side protection.Soft rock tunnel: Steel bar welded mesh is combined with anchor rods to control large deformation of the surrounding rock. In the initial support of tunnels, steel-plastic composite mesh is combined with shotcrete to improve the overall support structure.In acidic mine water, galvanized metal mesh or all-plastic mesh can avoid rust.High-gas mines need to use anti-static mesh materials, such as surface-modified steel-plastic composite mesh.
